Abstract Nonobjective Compositions

Our 5th graders have been hard at vocabulary work already in the creation of their abstract nonobjective compositions.  I love how colorful our batch turned out this year!

Finally Back in the Swing of Things!

We're back and busier than ever!  So busy in fact that I'm just getting around to the beginning of the year blog post!  Our students have already completed their first projects of the year, as well as an assignment for Art to Remember which is a fundraiser that gives great merchandise with student artwork on it!  For more info., please check out the following website: http://www.arttoremember.com/

We are busy on our third projects, and I'll post updates as we get closer to completion.

I have changed our grading scale for art and music classes.  I know this caused some confusion when the scale changed and emails went out.  Basically I went from using percentages and points to using rubrics in class.  Each rubric is on a scale of 0-4.  Most rubrics are similar to this:
0 - Did not turn in project. (this will not count against students who are absent for the entire project)
1- Project turned in was not the assignment.
2 - Project turned in was incomplete.
3 - Project was complete and included all necessary elements.
4 - Project was complete, included all elements, ans showed mastery of the elements we were studying.

Please email me if you have any questions!
